The importence of animal protein for human health

This post includes a summary of a paper published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2002 Dec;56(12):16 p following 1262 and a recipe for lamb steaks.

Evidence of past diets from Neanderthals and a number of modern Palaeolithic and Mesolithic humans indicates the importance of animal protein in diets.
 
There is a significant change in the archaeological record associated with the introduction of agriculture worldwide, and an associated general decline in health.

Recipe of the day

Lamb Steaks

Ingredients:
Lamb Leg - Boneless
Food Mall: Boneless Lamb Leg
6-8 boneless lamb leg or shoulder steaks
Salt and freshly milled black pepper
2 large sprigs freshly chopped rosemary
30ml/2tbsp olive oil
60ml/4tbsp elderflower cordial

Method:
1.In a shallow dish mix the seasoning, rosemary, oil and elderflower together. Add the lamb, coat on both sides with the mixture, cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

2.Cook the steaks under a preheated grill or on a prepared barbecue for 6-8 minutes on each side or until any meat juices run clear.
