Statin therapy associated with a 9% increased risk for diabetes

An analysis of 13 statin trials with 91,140 participants investigated the effects of statin treatment on diabetes.

The study revealed:

(a) Statin therapy  was associated with a 9% increased risk for diabetes.

(b) The risk of development of diabetes with statins was highest in older people.
