The objective of the Rationale of the Diet-Heart Statement of the American Heart Association was to restate the diet-heart recommendations (low fat/high carb diet) of the American Heart Association and to quote the original publications on which they are based.
After Reiser had studied the scientific literature he concluded: "Examination of those publications reveals that for the most part, they are obsolete or misquoted......and since rational explanations for the recommendations (low fat/high carb diet) are essential for their acceptance, the public to whom they are addressed is justified in remaining skeptical of them".
In other words Reiser found NO evidence that a low fat/high carbohydrate diet was of any benefit in controlling heart disease.
