The raison d'etre of this website is to provide you with hard scientific information which may help you make informed decisions in your quest for health (so far I have blogged concise summaries of over 1,500 scientific studies and have had three books published).

My research is mainly focused on the effects of cholesterol, saturated fat and statin drugs on health. If you know anyone who is worried about their cholesterol levels and heart disease, or has been told to take statin drugs you could send them a link to this website, and to my statin or cholesterol or heart disease books.

Fifteen children suffering from severe protein-calorie malnutrition were divided into three groups of five each and received diets containing either unirradiated, freshly irradiated, or stored irradiated wheat.

The study found:
(a) Children receiving freshly irradiated wheat developed polyploid cells (cells with chromosome abnormalities) and certain abnormal cells in increasing number as the duration of feeding increased. If these children withdrew from eating the freshly irradiated wheat then the abnormal cells decreased.
(b) Children fed stored irradiated wheat also showed polyploid and abnormal cells, but in decreased numbers compared to the children fed freshly irradiated wheat.
(c)  In marked contrast, none of the children fed unirradiated diet developed any abnormal cells.

Polyploidy has an association with cancer. See here.
