In the study depression was assessed in a population of 1040 women and 752 men aged 65 years and older and after 7-year follow-up.
The findings revealed that:
(a) Depression is associated with low levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol
(b) Depression is associated with low levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in men.
